Monochromes Installation

Yannick Jacquet & Otto Lindholm

Where colour is heard and music seen

Bringing together music, light and colour, Monochromes is a hybrid project developed by visual artist Yannick Jacquet and double bassist–composer Otto Lindholm.

A sensory and immersive experience, an invitation to slow down and reconnect with emotions, beyond the pace of instant attention.

At the heart of Monochromes is a series of 12 unique compositions for double bass and looper, each lasting a fixed 5 minutes. Each composition focuses on a specific note of the musical scale, freely associated with a luminous hue, conceived as a “sound colour.” The result is a chromatic alphabet that questions our relationship with representations.

Inspired by EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) techniques, the artists weave a dialogue between music, colour and light, exploring their influence on our mental state. Monochromes invites visitors to take in the sensations that emerge from its coloured circular stimuli.

First shown as an ellipse of screens encircled by sound, at times activated by different musicians, the installation is now evolving through custom displays conceived and built by the artists themselves. The music will be released in Autumn 2026 on the Belgian label Vlek, with future presentations in the coming months.
