Otto Lindholm is the solo project of Brussels-based double bassist and award-winning composer Cyrille de Haes.
His music moves at the edges of drone, modern classical, and experimental sound. Trained in jazz at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, he developed an idiosyncratic, self-taught approach to the bow, shaping music attentive to gesture, resonance, and texture — shifting between the rawness of acoustic tone and the subtlety of electronic processing.
His work has been released on labels such as Icarus, Gizeh, Houndstooth, Bedouin Records, 7K!, Sub Rosa, and Totalism, and praised by international outlets:
“Like William Blake soundtracked by Arthur Russell” — MOJO
“All Ligeti/Xenakis-style doom and dirge, with cooling solar flares” — The Wire
“Deeply meditative” — Mary Anne Hobbs
Since his debut LP in 2016, he has performed across Europe, from Brussels to London and Paris, and at festivals such as Rewire (NL), Tumult (SE), Maintenant (FR), and Bozar Electronique (BE).
He has collaborated with artists such as Ross Tones (Throwing Snow), Stuart Argabright, Aidan Baker, Ben Bertrand, Jean D.L., string quintet Bow, and Maze (Orphan Swords).
His work resonates beyond the stage as well, appearing in films and performances (Nuit Romaine by Angelin Preljocaj for Dior and the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Empire V by Victor Ginzburg, The Ego by Maria Lloyd).
Winter 2025 marks the beginning of a new creative cycle. The 7” Shall the Days Float Through Our Eyes (Skew Note, December 2025) appears at once miniature and prelude. Upcoming works include a fourth solo album (TBA) and Monochromes (Vlek, 2026), a twelve-part bass suite released as an album and expanded into an installation with visual artist Yannick Jacquet.
